10 Easy Ways to Boost Profits

March 1st, 2006...
Ten Easy Ways to Boost Profit $20/Acre On March 1st, 2006 at Milligan’s Evening with Friends a University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension program, Ten Easy Ways to Boost Profit $20/Acre program was held. This was the second year of this workshop series, presented by University of Nebraska Extension; the program featured ways you can boost your profit by at least $20 per acre. Designed for farmers and tested by farmers, this research-based program helps producers develop a plan for squeezing more dollars from tight, crop production margins. This year approximately 30 producers were in attendance and heard presenters from four UNL Extension Educators: Randy Pryor (Saline County), Gary Zoubek (York County), Paul Hay (Gage County), and Brandy VanDeWalle (Fillmore County). Some topics covered were ways to cope with rising energy costs, corn/soybean rotations, crediting organic matter for nitrogen, on-farm research groups, and the economics of sharing or leasing machinery. Sponsorship from Farmers & Merchants Bank, Farmers Cooperative, and Kassik Milling helped cover the cost of this program.
